Basic Soul Unit’s Motional Response LP

Combining the best of Chicago and Detroit influences, Basic Soul Unit (Stuart Li) makes house music that gets us excited. Having enjoyed dancing to the emotive and energised vintage-ish productions (mostly made in Reason) he’s steadily released over the last decade (as singles or EPs) we’re chuffed to hear that after time spent honing his sound he’s put together his first album, Motional Response, coming out on Jerome Derradji’s, Still Music

Stuart uploaded snippets of the LP to his Soundcloud however you can stream the entire album (until December 18th) and check a Q+A with Mr Li at CBC Music. To quote from there:

“I’m not technically proficient: I just noodle around and figure things out on my own. I started out with some software, then I bought some more, and then a little bit of hardware. I’m certainly not a tech wizard or gear head. I trust my ears and my musical ideas.”
