CDR London April – Shy One in Conversation with Ikonika

We’re back next month in the Rye Wax basement where we will be switching things up; as we warmly welcome the ever-rising selector and producer Shy One, to look after proceedings.

An omnipresent force, Shy One can be found speaking and DJing all over the UK and internationally, representing Touching Bass and BBZ families; she also has a few releases under her belt too. She’ll be joined in the session by Sara Abdel-Hamid, AKA Ikonika.

Impressing from the off with hard-hitting bruisers, Ikonika made her arrival on London’s Hyperdub records in 2008, at a time when the influence of dubstep was inescapable. With many a release on Kode 9’s label including her first LP “Contact, Love, Want, Have”, Ikonika also boasts key offerings like ‘Dckhdbtch’ via Planet Mu and also puts her name to own label Hum + Buzz. Master of the darker tones and purple sonic colourings, Ikonika’s productions have and continue to envelop, carrying the clear introspective hallmarks of club bass music.

We look forward to what promises to be another informative discussion between two musical authorities.
