CDR x DIMENSIONS FESTIVAL

This collaborative project aims to connect music fans and makers, by unearthing new sounds and using them as the pallet for a producer focused project.

“This is a great way for us to extend a project to new and established producers, artists and music-heads, giving us the opportunity to spread the CDR ethos into the sun with our friends Dimensions Festival.” Tony Nwachukwu – Founder/Director, CDR

Phase I: invites people to send soundbytes from the furthest corners of the world in a similar manner to 2014, which saw over 200 local field recordings submitted to the project from across Europe, Australia, and remote areas of America. This year participants can add to the vibrant and extensive Local Audio sound palette, contributing sounds from their local area and communities, which will then enable producers to create something fresh and forward thinking. One finalist will receive a full festival.

Phase II: An open call on producers to create something unique using the Local Audio sounds collated, and to immerse themselves in the spirit of the Dimensions programming. This will encourage music-makers to think slightly left-of-field when developing their works, and help to explore creating sounds in new ways. This years finalist will have their track pressed onto vinyl alongside Dimensions Festival artists, as well as a live/DJ set at the 2015 festival. Previous participants have included RBMA attendees, with some finalists going on to have releases on Wild Oats and Tru Thoughts. Artists Karizma, Ossie and Tall Black Guy went into the studio with their own takes on Phase II in 2014

Phase III: Takes place at Dimensions Festival in Croatia within the Knowledge Arena – a daytime tent focussed on music creation, performance and collaboration. A space where festival-goers and artists can be inspired by their surroundings and have the opportunity to creatively channel their experiences in the sun, and also meet some of their favourite artists other participants in the project. Past Knowledge Arena saw workshops and talks from the likes of Omar, Seven Davis Junior, Alexander Nut, Roman Flügel, Funkineven and more.

“Dimensions is incredibly proud of the fact we attract such a diverse crowd of people with attendees coming from as far as Australia, Russia, Mexico and India. We feel that this project is a great way to represent this!” Andy Lemay – Marketing & Promotions Manager Dimensions Festival

All proceeds from the vinyl/digital release of this project will go to the Steve Reid Foundation and Hackney based charity Rising Tide.
